This was my first show - a nasty, cold rainy day it was. $7.50 for floor seats. I spoke with Jim Lauderdale after an American Beauty performance at Page Auditorium back in October. Turns out it was his first show too - small world.
Duke has great places to see shows but I must say Go to Hell Duke! from an athletic perspective...

that american beauty show at page was same damn night as the blue-white/midnight madness thing that i took my 9-year old to so she could her first taste of cameron. we were unduly excited by kyrie irving's skills. page has seen tons of great shows, as has cameron, but not much in wallace wade for many years. one of the guys that put on watkins glen was head of the student union that brought the boys to wallace wade. he went on to be a big atty in music biz and has long represented phil in the digital side of life...

BD, Which would you choose? GD show or Duke BB?
Give them equal weight in caparison, i.e. Final Four, 3-1-69.

Duke hoops, but it would have to be a Duke-Carolina game. My wife's first game at Cameron was the double OT loss when Jeff Capel hit the 3 to send to OT. The thing with hoops is that the whole crowd (in Cameron) is one huge organism reacting/responding/propelling and you don't know what will happen next. Truly,a game in Cameron is the closest I've ever come to what it's like to be at a GD show when they were on. Also, you don't have to sit through Bobby first set cowboy tunes or, for most of my era, Brent songs and/or froggy Jerry. Since I didn't see primal Dead, I can't say. IF I could use the time machine, it would be hard to ignore the upcoming 43rd (NOT 42nd) anniversary show on Valentines Day. Then, I might just Tivo the game...

Best would be afternoon UNC game and then GD show that night.

bd - I'm still hoarse from that game! It’s an all-time classic!! I won a dollar :-)
Seems like the boys were always around during March madness. In the spring, we’d bring VCRs to tape the game in our hotel rooms during the show.
In that context, I’ll take Dead over the Tar Heels just about anytime…

We did too! I remember many a post Hampton show with tons of people watching hoops. In '86 we were hitting March games and shows on alternate nights. For Mando, I saw the Admiral in person in the Meadowlands for that Duke game.
